James Little (Aspeditions 2021)

This volume of the BDMP charts the genesis of three iconic Beckett plays: Not I (1973), That Time (1976) and Footfalls (1976), all translated into French by their author. Including analyses of abandoned archival precursors – the ‘Kilcool’ drafts (1963) and the ‘Petit Odéon’ Fragments (1967–1968) – the book covers a crucial period in Beckett’s playwriting career, during which his long-held ambition to stage a mouth babbling in the dark became a catalyst for some of his most innovative work.

Georgina Nugent-Folan (Aspeditions 2021)

The latest BDMP volume discusses Samuel Beckett’s late prose text Company/Compagnie. Company was first composed in English between the years 1977 and 1979, with Beckett breaking a 20-year-long pattern of composing primarily in French to craft this meticulously structured 59-paragraph masterpiece of his late prose. Its French companion, Compagnie, was translated in only two weeks, in August 1979, yet the French came into print in early 1980, some months before the English ‘original’.

Iwan Strauven (Nai010 Publishers 2021)

Victor Bourgeois (1897–1962) was the leading pioneer of the international Modern Movement in Belgium. He was invited to design a house for the famous Weissenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart in 1927, and between 1928 and 1930 he played an important role in the CIAM (Congrès Internationaux d’Architecture Moderne), the most influential platform for modern architecture and urban design of the twentieth century.

Didier Debaise (August Verlag 2021)

Michel Dumoulin, Vincent Genin & Sabina Gola (dir.) (Peter Lang 2020)

Sara Pacchiarotti (CSLI Publications 2020)

This book focuses on different clause-level constructions involving reflexes of the Proto-Bantu multifunctional applicative *-ɪd. These constructions, widespread across the Bantu family, show that applicative morphology is not always syntactically valence-increasing. It performs many non-syntactic functions which are often not addressed in the relevant literature.

Marie Kervyn (Brepols 2020)

Francis Edeline (Editions Academia 2020)

Maria Giulia Dondero (Meltemi Press 2020)

The scholarly network and background of a Jesuit polymath, Johann Terrentius (1576-1630), in Europe (1600-1618) and his work as a China missionary (1619-1630), in alchemy, medicine, mathematics, botany, etc.; founder of Jesuit libraries in China and Jesuit scholarship, aiming at the transmission of knowledge to China.

Aimé-Parfait Niyonkuru (Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft 2020)

From an institutional point of view, Burundi's state courts and tribunals have a monopoly on administering civil justice through binding decisions. This work examines from a legal and institutional perspective the extent to which the Burundian legal framework meets the requirements of international guarantees for the effectiveness of access rights to civil courts and tribunals. These guarantees are enshrined, inter alia, in Article 14.1 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and in Articles 7.1.a) and 26 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.
